I've got 2 of the Wildview xtreme 3IR. They were sold in a twin pack last Christmas for I think $85 or $90. So far, the picture quality is great. the only thing I see becoming an issue is the battery life.

Im in the market for 1 or 2 myself. I hear the same thing from a lot of people about battery life. I've also heard it has to do with the settings. How often is it taking pics, and about how many pics a week is it taking?

I would PM Helomech and talk to him first, he has ALOT of experience with them.
My two cents is this, I would not use a game cam with a flash and I would try and find a way too hard wire a larger battery to whatever camera you choose. In fact this off season one of my projects will be hooking up a deep cycle marine battery to a game camera if I get around to it I will take pics.

IMO there are no good cheap cams. If you want a disposable cam take your pic, if you want a cam that will last, IMO there are only two options. Buckeye my favorite, and Ryconex.

How often is it taking pics, and about how many pics a week is it taking? My camera got new batteries last Thursday and by Saturday morning, it had taken 365 pics. I figure batteries will blow up within 2-3 weeks if not sooner.

I'm gonna look into some type of external power source. Solar would be nice.

The buckeye can take over 10k pics on a single charge, the Scott Guard can do at least 5k on it's 8 AA batteries, the flash just sucks on it.

wow! I'll be curious to see what this one will do. Not sure if I'm heading down this weekend or not since it's calling for rain all weekend.

Seems like IR would be better than flash?

I think IR is easier on batteries, but no proof. Most folks say the deer and what not get used to flash pretty quick.

I think IR is easier on batteries, but no proof. Most folks say the deer and what not get used to flash pretty quick. I dissagree, the deer you really want to see may only come in range of the camera once or twice all season and at night to boot, you might not see them with a flash. I will take a pic of what I have at my feeder this weekend its a work in progress. When the temps fall into the teen for a low it really eats the batteries. The changes I made should extend battery life in extreme cold (I hope).

My Stealth Cam is junk!!!!! It quits working after about 3 days. I have it hard wired to the 12 volt battery pack that is made especially for it. It is supposed to last 4 months. It's junk. I'm thinking about getting something else. Something cheap. I'm tired of spending all this money, and not getting what I pay for it.

I wouldn't give this thing to my worst enemy, let alone someone I've never met. I may just use it for target practice one morning.

I used Cuddeback for years with no problems. Loved the fast trigger speed. I agree with Helo though, now the cheap ones are hit or miss. Almost all of em have problems. The two he mentioned are expensive but now have a reputation of being about the best around.
I'd rather have 1 500.00 cam that is dependable than 5 one hundred dollar ones that aren't.
